κέ

κέ, κέν: enclitic modal adv. indicating a condition; essentially equivalent to ἄν, but of more frequent occurrence, esp. in affirmative sentences, and sometimes found in combination with ἄν, Il. 11.187, Il. 13.127, Il. 24.437, Od. 5.361, ζ 2, Od. 9.334. Homer uses κέν, like ἄν, with the fut. indic. and w. the subj. in independent sentences, καί κέ τις ὧδ' ἐρέει, ‘thus many a one will be like to say,’ Il. 4.176 ; ἐγὼ δέ κ' ἄγω Βρῖσηΐδα, ‘just as certainly will I,’ etc., Il. 1.184.
